Regular Spring 2023 Recreation - CLOSED
Late Registration still available.

Complete a Late Registration Form and be placed on teams with openings AFTER FEBRUARY 15.

Recreation structure
The Recreation Program is a fun environment for players of all skill levels from beginners to advanced. Boys and girls ages 3 to 18 are placed on single gender teams in their own grade. PISA has one of the largest Recreation Programs having multiple teams and competition in each age group. Since players are allowed to participate in Recreation as well as Academy, and even Hurricanes, you will find the Recreation Program to be challenging as there are many skilled players throughout the divisions. Travel team players and as high school players also join.

Since PISA is a non-profit organization, we rely purely on registrations but also business sponsorships to sustain the league. Becoming a team sponsor is easy, fun, excellent advertising, and is tax-deductible. For more information, refer to Team Sponsors page.

FAQ-Recreation Program
  • What is included in the registration?
Registration fees covers player jerseys and a regular season games. # games depends on #teams in your division. All that is required are black shorts/socks & shin-guards. Cleats are desirable, but not required. Visit our sponsors Play-it-Again Sports and Omega Sports for specials on soccer gear. Fees also cover referees for ages 6+, field paint, goals, nets, field reservations, balls and other equipment.
  • How Are Teams Formed?
Team assignments can vary from season to season since many factors come into play including different team sponsors or coaches. But the primary criteria for team assignments for Recreation League are, in order: Coach's child, Sponsor's Child, Gender, Grade, Age, School, Zip Code.
  • Can my child play with their grade?
Players are grouped by grade. Children born after the 8/1 cutoff will be placed-up with their grade. Children cannot "play-down" if old for their grade.
  • Can I request a certain coach?
The registration form has space to enter a coach's name. As long as the child falls into the same gender, grade, and age group as that coach, we can consider them for that team if there is open space. However, players who were on that team previously have first consideration.
  • Can I coach?
A short online course and background check are required to coach a team however is a very simple process and well-worth it. You not only get to pick your practice day/time/location, but also receive a $10 gift card to Buffalo Wild Wings and a coach shirt. Simply complete the area on your child's registration form for the team you wish to be considered and come to the coaches' orientation. See COACH PAGE for more information.
  • When & where are PRACTICES?
Practice is entirely up to whoever coaches that team. So if you want to coach, you get to choose the best day/time to fit your schedule! PISA has practice fields at Carolina Beach, Veterans Park, Ashley HS, Murray & Myrtle Grove MS, and Pine Valley, Codington, Alderman elementary schools
  • When & where are GAMES?
Games are on Saturdays between 9am-12pm for ages 3,4,5. Ages 6-18 are between 9am-4pm, and they may occasionally have a week-night game due to a rain make-up. Your game times may not be the same time each Saturday due to many teams and coaching schedules. Majority of games are played at Veterans Park complex, but no further than Carolina Beach or Myrtle Grove depending on age group and game rotation.
  • How come my child did not get on the team I requested?
That coach is not coaching this season. That coach is not in your age group. The team sponsor changed. Not enough players asked for that team/coach. Not any space open on that team...etc.
  • What happens if we do not get on the team/coach I requested?
Remaining players are then divided and grouped by Grade, Age, School, Zip Code. As space allows, players will be added to teams with openings. We try to grant as many requests as possible to make it fun for kids and convenient for parents, but cannot guarantee granting all requests.
